The background has an off white color that covers the whole page, with nothing interesting happening in the background in order to make the he music artist featured stand out.
the lighting is high key, in order to make the cover image more radiant.

The masthead says “Vibe” although the model’s head is blocking the masthead the popularity of the magazine is so high hat readers will almost automatically know what magazine they are picking up. Furthermore the masthead matches the colors of Kanye’s collar and cover lines in order to keep a theme of colors alike. It could also indicate that throughout the magazine these colors will appear frequently especially on a double spread.

In this layout here is a pattern that occurs, all the sub cover lines are in blue in addition the sub cover lines are names of famous people. I think the editor did this deliberately in order to make the names stand out of the page.

The masthead could be seen to break the rules and conventions of other magazines as there is information above the masthead, the font is of a standard serif type and it connotes that the magazine is a trendy magazine for entertainment and more or less inform its target audience. It also connotes the era of this magazine as the font is not of something such as a “Rolling stones” magazine which shows the history of the magazine it also shows that the modernization of this magazine.

The magazine “Vibe” relates to music vibes and the magazine name gives me the impression that the magazine is about the latest songs and trends. The cover image is of Kanye west a well know rap artist which could be used to promote the magazine. He is neither smiling nor angry but giving off an impression of a cool rap star look. This could be seen as non verbal communication saying to readers that rap stars are serious but cool.

The different cover lines tells us that Kanye is not the only focus of this months magazine but it shoes that the magazine doesn’t vary in genre. Names in the cover lines include (Britney Spears, The Dream and Jay Rock) this indicates that these people will have a role within the magazine

The main cover line states the music artist’s name and a quote that is most likely to appear in this month’s article. It states “I am Rap”.
this could connote that he feels as if his life revolves around rap therefore meaning he should be at the top of the chain
On the whole A4 spread there are four different colors which compliment each other in terms of each color makes the other stand out. Another cover line which could be seen as a main cover line is …’his 50 greatest songs this could connote that this persons opinion really matters to this magazine, furthermore in the left corner of the cover image is the magazine website which could be seen as an advertisement for people who may either want o subscribe online or see what the homepage is like.

After taking all these points into account I would say that the target audience for this magazine would be all gendered teenagers ranging from 13-21 who are interested in the lives of stars with their careers also. Another target audience could be fellow stars who are interested in what could be their friends’ interview. They are likely to be trendy people who follow the clothing style of the rappers.
