Q2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Iconic magazine is solely a hip –hop magazine with mixed content such as information on fashion as well as other media related content, it mainly focuses on stories and news within the black ethnic community. My magazine targets teenagers aged 13-17 relating back to information from my graph as show below 13 out of 20 people who participated in the questionnaire where black, this had a relation with the age of which my questionnaire was taken by, and more 16 year olds took the questionnaire. Also this led to the decision of me producing a hip-hop magazine aimed at black people.

Many hip hop magazines in the past and even today do not focus their magazine on one content only as they feel I they add other content they may draw in a new audience and customers, Iconic magazine did the same by also introducing fashion tips, although as my magazine is aimed at young trendy teens I used colloquial language in order to appeal to my target audience as you can see below I used the word “swagger” in my sub cover lines.
